A portfolio and living chronicle of projects by an interaction designer

Introducing Projects by Charlie

I created this space on Medium because of the ease of access to publishing, and because writing is something of a rare pleasure in today’s hectic times.

Feel free to browse through, comment on, and share any of the projects that struck you in any way, positive or negative.

I’m on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and of course, Medium, where I write about more than just my work.

Who am I?

One of my few black shirts.

In high school, I picked up Photoshop to design signature banners on the old Gamespot gaming forums and made juvenile videos in Windows Movie Maker, came at the expense of studying for exams.

Regardless, a generous university took me in and my gratitude was demonstrated with a plethora of presentations in front of big groups of people, and a continued neglect of exams to instead get involved with student associations and complete my own education of the Adobe creative suite.

With a newfound sense of identity, a C+ on my academic record, and a new pair of glasses, I applied to an account manager role at a small startup in Montreal. Fortunately, they trusted my ability to refresh the full brand guidelines, and eventually sat me in a designer’s chair where I worked on many iterations of their keystone data-analytics software offering.

Following this path of good fortune, I discovered a school called the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) which accepted me and 23 great people into the 2016 Interaction Design Programme.

Currently, I’m helping a rapidly growing innovation centre and incubator in Montréal adopt the principles of user-centred design, and teaching a university course titled Creativity, Innovation and Critical Thinking.
