SweetIQ
Designing interfaces to help small businesses manage their local marketing
Challenge
Provide a dashboard to SweetIQ’s growing number of clients for them to manage their own data and alleviate manual reporting on SweetIQ’s internal customer support staff.
Outcome
A reimagined product with customizable reporting for clients, intuitive data management, and flexible components that would enable SweetIQ to scale rapidly.
The Process
Retiring A one-trick pony
In the early days, SweetIQ’s priority was shipping a product to meet the first client’s demands and appease investors.
After years of haphazard additions, the product was bloated and relied on frequent and manual interventions by support staff to function well.
All-in-one or flying solo?
Sharing rough prototypes, designed on Keynote, with business owners revealed the kind of data they were expecting from the product.
Early tests led to merging the data management and analytics features. A key insight later in the process necessitated their split, which would be a major factor in SweetIQ’s success.
Modular design and a growth spurt
The resulting product’s scalability and usability proved sound.
With flexible components that could be repackaged at different price points, we expanded to new markets. Drastic reductions in calls and emails with clients allowed us to double our sales and development staff while maintaining the same customer support team.
