Learn to browse, consume, and share information critically and conscientiously

ThinkFirst News

Have you ever read an online article and wondered, “Who the f wrote this shit?” I feel this everyday.

This project started off after a critical mass of garbage information started being thrown around during COVID-19. Despite the tons of fact checkers and great information out there, it wasn’t reaching my own personal networks. I teamed up with a friend and started re-sharing the best resources we came across and taking down terrible headlines.

Our Instagram page with lots of easily shareable and digestible information

We also explore technology and make prototypes to suggest improvements so that information browsing, consumption, and sharing can happen more critically and conscientiously directly from within the tools we use. Our first is the Facebook Thoughtful Sharing prototype.

Facebook Thoughtful Sharing Prototype
A more thoughtful approach to sharing articles on Facebook that prevents users from sharing without first reading the article and providing thoughtful text to accompany the share.

Our hope with all of this is to inspire people read the world around them more critically and behave more responsibly when sharing information with others.
